The strengths and weaknesses of Yoshihide Suga

Japan’s Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga is the first national leader to be invited to a face-to-face meeting with President Joe Biden in Washington.

It’s quite an honour and reflects the respectful, trusting relationship between the allies. 

Yet domestically, things are not going so well for Prime Minister Suga. His approval ratings are low, with critics saying he’s not done well in handling Japan’s response to the pandemic.
